Individual and Small Group Campus Tours

Experience Governors State University with a personalized walking tour led by a current student. This is your chance to see why students choose to become GovState Jaguars. Individual tours are designed for prospective students or small groups of fewer than 10 people.

Please Note: Tours are scheduled by appointment only. We cannot accommodate walk-ins. To ensure a seamless experience, please be on time. Tours will be canceled after a 10-minute grace period, and you will need to reschedule. If you will be late, please contact the Office of Admission at 708.534.4490.

Group Campus Tours

Bring your high school or community college group to explore Governors State University. Group tours provide an excellent overview of our campus, academic life, and the admissions process.

Important Information for Group Visits:

  • Group tours are not available during the summer semester.
  • To ensure we can accommodate your group, please request your visit at least three weeks in advance. Dates fill up quickly and are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Group tours are typically scheduled on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.
  • You can expect a response to your request within 3-5 business days. Please do not arrive without a confirmed visit.
  • We provide group tours exclusively for high school and community college students.
  • If your number of attendees changes, please notify us no later than three days before your visit.
  • If you need to cancel, please provide at least a three-day notice to help us with rescheduling.

Chaperone Requirements:

  • We require one chaperone for every 10 students.
  • Chaperones must accompany and supervise students throughout the entire tour.

We are unable to accommodate tours on weekends or unscheduled walk-ins for any group size.

Campus Tours are limited during the Summer.  

Scheduling your campus visit at least two to three weeks in advance will help secure the date of choice.

    Parents, guardians, and guests are always welcome on campus. When you select a group size for your visit, please include them in the total.

    Sure! An admission counselor will be available to answer any questions you may have about programs after the tour. The counselor will provide you with an overview of the academic program of interest, as well as information you can take home.

    Upon arrival, you will check in at the Office of Admission room D1400 inside the Main Entrance. Your tour will begin shortly after check-in.

    When you reserve your tour online, you will receive an email confirmation which will include the building and room number for the start of your tour along with a link for directions. When you reserve your tour over the phone, we will provide the same confirmation details.

    You should bring something to take notes and a list of questions you may have. If you are sure you meet admission requirements and are ready to apply, bring your official sealed transcripts. An application fee will apply.

    Dress casually for your visit to campus. Comfortable shoes for the tour are a must. The tour of Prairie Place residence hall is a walking tour. Please pay attention to the weather as you will be walking outside. Bring an umbrella just in case!

    You will park at the P1 West lot or the P1 East lot.

    The campus tour is approximately 45 minutes. The residence hall tour is approximately 30 minutes. The campus tour and residence hall tour combined runs an hour and 15 minutes. If you are scheduled for the group admissions presentation (school groups) and tour, the visit will take an hour and 30 minutes.

    The campus tour features many areas including our recreation and fitness center, Center for Performing Arts, and Student Life department.

    If you want to bring a group to campus, please contact the Office of Admissions at visitus@govst.edu. Group visit requests require at least a two weeks' notice.

    Absolutely. We ask that when scheduling your appointment to visit the campus, you let us know if you need special accommodations.
