Production Positions

Our This Week at GovState productions give students hands-on experience in creating a weekly news program, working as reporters, writers, camera operators, editors, producers, and production assistants. Students collaborate in a real newsroom environment, gaining practical skills in storytelling, broadcast production, and teamwork while delivering timely campus and community news.

Producer

Oversees the production including the cast and crew. Coordinates with anchors, ﬁeld reporters and guests to ensure that productions run smoothly.

Director

Manages a team of production assistants to ﬁlm news packages, interviews and broadcasts on a weekly basis. Directs and edits the broadcasts.

Anchor

On air talent. Writes scripts to be read on air. Pitch news stories and package ideas.

Production Assistant

Takes on various tasks during the production including camera work, teleprompter, audio, script writing, lighting and more.
