Minors in Business
You need business skills and training for every career. Why not make your undergraduate degree more competitive by completing a business minor? Let us show you how. Adding one of the nine business minors to your undergraduate program increases your professional marketability.
Requirements for a minor
Students must meet all university requirements for a minor. In addition, students must:
- complete a study plan with the Academic Advising Office
- meet all course prerequisites and complete all courses required for the minor with a grade of “C” or better
- complete at least nine hours of the course work required for the minor at Governors State University
- submit transfer course documentation to the Academic Advising Office for approval before the first week of the semester of intended graduation
Note:
Students in undergraduate business programs are only eligible to earn a business minor that is different from their current major or concentration. Prerequisite courses may also be required to complete a business minor. Please consult the course descriptions or a College of Business advisor for more information.
The Accounting Minor program is designed for students seeking to acquire skills in analyzing, interpreting, and communicating financial information to accompany a business or non-business major. The coursework also helps students prepare for a graduate program in accounting.

The Business Administration Minor, is designed for and offered only to non-business students. It exposes students to the core areas in business, and provides a general understanding of the business discipline, including accounting, information systems, management, and marketing.
