YouTube is a fantastic platform for incorporating video into online courses, offering a dynamic and engaging way to connect with students. The power of video lies in its ability to visually demonstrate concepts, add a personal touch, and accommodate diverse learning styles.

YouTube is a free media-streaming service. All you need is a Gmail account to sign in. You can create personalized videos and upload them to YouTube as Unlisted, so only individuals with the link can view them. You may add these videos to your Blackboard course by sharing the unlisted link or embedding the YouTube player.

If you are looking for a media-streaming service with greater privacy, built-in quizzing features, and analytics, you may use Panopto, which GovState currently subscribes to.

You may create a video on your computer or on a mobile device. If you are creating a quick announcement video, a mobile device may be the fastest way to record and upload it to YouTube. If you are recording from a computer, you may need to download recording or editing software, such as Camtasia, Active Presenter or Screencastify. GSU has limited licensing for Camtasia. Please contact the GovState Helpdesk for further questions regarding Camtasia. Active Presenter and Screencastify are free, with limited functionality.

If you are creating videos for your course, you should change the privacy setting from Public to Unlisted. Unlisted videos cannot be searched for on YouTube; only individuals with the video link are able to view them. You may add the YouTube link to your Blackboard course or embed the YouTube player.

When creating videos, it is important to make a habit of using captions. YouTube offers an automatic caption option that works quite well. Simply enable it and wait a few moments for the captioning software to complete the process. If you notice any incorrect words, you can return to the Captioning section and edit them as needed.

You have videos that you would like to add to a Blackboard course. You can add videos using the YouTube Mashup tool in the Content Editor for public videos, add a link from YouTube (public or unlisted), or use the embed code to add the YouTube player within your course (public or unlisted).

Navigating the digital world should be an inclusive experience, and managing accessibility settings is key to achieving it. These settings allow individuals to customize their devices and applications to better suit their unique needs, ensuring that technology is a tool for empowerment rather than a barrier. From general adjustments that enhance usability for a broad audience to highly specific options designed for visual and hearing impairments, accessibility settings offer a powerful suite of controls.
