Panopto offers a secure and robust media streaming solution that is perfectly suited for educational environments, functioning similarly to the familiar YouTube but with a critical advantage: seamless integration with Blackboard. This allows educators to effortlessly upload, manage, and share video content directly within their courses, enhancing student engagement and providing flexible learning opportunities. To help you get the most out of this powerful platform, a comprehensive set of tutorials is available. These resources are designed to guide you through every aspect of Panopto, from basic uploading to more advanced features, ensuring you can confidently leverage its capabilities.

It is important to be aware of Panopto’s video retention policy, which prioritizes accessibility while also managing storage efficiently. Videos remain on the Panopto platform as long as they continue to be viewed, ensuring that valuable content stays readily available. However, if a video receives no viewership for a period of 13 months, it will be archived. This archiving process allows for efficient storage while keeping the content accessible if needed. If a video remains unviewed for four years after being archived, it will be permanently removed from the platform. Understanding this policy will help you manage your video content effectively and ensure the longevity of important teaching materials.
