Center for Teaching and Learning

Services

The Center for Teaching and Learning offers a variety of support for teaching pedagogy and instructional technology needs. This includes the integration of technology for online, hybrid, and in-person teaching (i.e., HyFlex instruction) and course development assistance. Assistance may be provided through group or departmental workshops; individually; virtually; in person; and via HyFlex modalities.

Faculty may schedule a 30-minute session with an instructional designer for assistance with a variety of topics, including engaging students in the classroom, teaching first-generation students, inclusive teaching strategies, alternate assessment strategies, facilitation strategies, and online best practices. To schedule a one-on-one session, please complete the Faculty Training Request form.

Professional development is offered to faculty year-round on a variety of topics. Workshops are primarily offered virtually for convenience, but some workshops are held in person in “The Cube” for a more hands-on experience. Please visit the CTL Faculty Workshops page for an updated schedule.

Official QM professional development is available each term. CTL also offers QM overview sessions for those who simply want to learn more about Quality Matters. All GovState faculty have access to “MyQM,” which provides resources such as the QM Rubric, the Accessibility and Usability course, and free webinars that support teaching and learning.

Throughout the academic year, GovState faculty are invited to present at one of the professional development workshops offered by CTL. Topics can range from a recent research project, an instructional strategy, a new technology tool, or information you may have acquired from attending a conference.

If you are interested in sharing your knowledge with the faculty community, please contact CTL so that we can add you to the Faculty Workshop schedule.
