- The University acknowledges that pests and wild or feral animals (together, “Wildlife”) will inhabit campus grounds and that Wildlife may pose a threat to human health and safety and to the structural soundness and utility of facilities. The University considers the health and safety of the campus and campus community of utmost importance. If a situation on the GSU campus arises where serious harm or injury is imminent or has occurred to a person or campus facilities, Public Safety should be immediately contacted at 708-534-4900.
- Wildlife on campus grounds will be undisturbed if they do not:
- Pose a direct threat to the campus population;
- Damage campus property;
- Create a public nuisance; or
- Require human intervention.
- Prohibited human interventions with Wildlife include, but are not limited to, harassment, feeding, building of shelters, and injection of medication. Any individual who engages in prohibited interventions with Wildlife may be removed from GSU property. Further, engaging in any prohibited intervention with Wildlife may subject a University employee (unless acting in accordance with Section I.D of this Policy) or student to disciplinary action.
- Wildlife that do present a risk to the campus environment will be regulated, controlled, and humanely handled by appropriate University employees or retained outside professionals in accordance with all applicable laws and ordinances.
- Individuals from campus or the community may raise concerns regarding nuisance wildlife management by contacting the Physical Plant Work Order Desk. The work order request can be found at the Physical Plant website.
