Who We Are

Jaguar Jumps is a bridge program for students with disabilities to transition from high school to college and career pathways. The program accepts students aged 17 years and older, and meetings are online in the late afternoon so students can attend high school and Jaguar Jumps simultaneously. We also welcome high school alumni who would like to explore new opportunities

Our Programs

Two smiling teen girls, one with crutches, standing in a school hallway by lockers.

This is a two-semester program. In the first semester, skills needed for success in college and careers are covered. Each student receives a GovState student ID which allows them to attend all campus events and take advantage of student benefits (email, library, software packages). The second semester is focused on taking classes at GovState and looking at career and/or internship opportunities.

JAGUAR JUMPS 1 (JJ1):

Empowering Transition - At the core of JJ1 is an advocacy-focused approach that guides students through understanding their disability and building self-advocacy skills. Students will explore pathways in higher education, workforce training, or online courses. The students will learn about empowering themselves, self-awareness, legal protections, accommodations, requesting appropriate support, navigating disclosure decisions, and effective communication skills.

JAGUAR JUMPS 2 (JJ2):

Bridging Education and Employment - JJ2 provides personalized, one-on-one guidance and support to students who have successfully completed JJ1. The program assists students in navigating their chosen paths, whether transitioning to higher education or entering the workforce.

OTHER JAGUAR JUMPS PROGRAMS:

Throughout the year, Jaguar Jumps also offers other activities designed to foster a sense of community, belonging, and engagement among participants to support their overall growth. Activities include Transportation Exploration Days, Movies in the Park, Advising Day, and STEAM Camp Day.
