Chicago Southland International Film Festival Awards Show, F1622 Theatre, 3 pm

Short film competition featuring several programs that will be available for viewing virtually from Monday, October 11th to Sunday, October 17th and in-person from Friday, October 15th to Sunday, October 17th. To purchase tickets and browse various programs, visit CSIFF 2021 Virtual Festival.

 

Celebration of Gospel: Homecoming Gospel Concert, Center for Performing Arts, 4 pm

Join us for a spirit-filled concert to inspire your soul. Guests includes gospel royalty such as Vickie Winans, Kevin Lemons & Higher Calling, Travis Malloy, Chicago Mass Choir, Bishop Larry Trotter & Sweet Holy Spirit Choir, VJ McCoy & Worship Experience, LaVarnga Hubbard and much more. Bean Bag Tournament, Hall of Governors Patio, 12 – 3 pm

No matter what you call it- “Cornhole” or “Bagz”- Don’t miss out of this college staple! Find a friend and create a team for an afternoon of fun. This will be done as “16 team - single elimination - tournament style” event for a chance to wins some GSU swag! To sign up your team, please email CASInfo@govst.edu to reserve your spot! Come out and show the campus what you’re made of by participating in daily competitive challenges to win bragging rights, club allocations, a GSU trophy, and pizza party! Community Service Back in Action! Iron Oaks Learning Center, 12 – 3 pm

Join Kaleidoscope as we participate in service projects contributing to the restoration of Irons Oaks Environmental Learning Center.  This outdoor activity includes beautifying the trails and eliminating invasive species, and is sure to be an exciting learning and service opportunity. Are you a fan of the ballroom culture as featured in TV shows Pose and Legendary and movies such as Paris is Burning.  Well, we are bringing it to Governors State University.  Join us for an evening of the history of ballroom, it’s influence in modern society and even see your own Jaguars participate in various categories to be crowned supreme at the inaugural Jaguar Ball.  Please email cseip@govst.edu for more information or to participate. Relaxation and Self-care stations sponsored by the Counseling and Wellness Center.

 

Silent Homecoming Party, Hall of Governors, 9 pm – 12 am
