Evie Plofsky

Master of Science, Early Childhood Education, SIU Carbondale

Evie received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL, where she served as a Master Teacher and then as Director of the University’s childcare center. She helped the daycare center grow from serving only preschoolers to serving infants/toddlers, and school-aged children, and it subsequently became an NAEYC-certified center. She started an intergenerational cooperative program with a local senior day care center, which offered children and seniors delightful, meaningful opportunities for interaction. 

Upon returning to the southern suburbs of Chicago, she served as the Director of the Anita M. Stone JCC Child Care Center for 14 years. During this time, she began teaching Early Childhood courses at Governors State University. This experience has enabled her to draw on her background and interests to train future teachers in the quest to provide high-quality early education for young children and their families. She enjoys being involved in the community, spending time with her large extended family, and exploring Chicago events and places.
