Faculty Respondus 4.0
Respondus 4.0 is a powerful PC-based application designed to streamline the creation and management of assessments for educators. Its intuitive interface empowers users to build new exams and surveys from the ground up with ease, providing a straightforward path to developing high-quality learning evaluations. Additionally, Respondus 4.0 excels at facilitating the transfer of existing assessments by allowing direct uploads to GovState Blackboard. This capability can save considerable time and effort for instructors who have previously developed content in other formats. By simplifying the complex tasks of exam generation and integration, Respondus 4.0 significantly boosts efficiency during both the preparation and administration phases of teaching, making it an invaluable tool for educators seeking to optimize their assessment workflows.
Please be aware that this will be our final year of support for Respondus 4.0. The software will be officially discontinued in July 2026. After this date, the Respondus 4.0 desktop application will no longer be supported, updated, or guaranteed to function correctly with Blackboard Learn. Any quizzes or exams created and managed solely in Respondus 4.0 will need to be migrated or rebuilt using alternative methods.
GovState owns a university-wide subscription to Respondus. If you would like to get started with Respondus, please email blackboard@govst.edu to provide a license. Download the GSU campus version of Respondus 4.0.

Respondus 4 is an authoring tool used by instructors to create web-based assessments for students. Accessibility is controlled by the Learning Management System (LMS) to which the assessment is published or uploaded. Respondus 4 streamlines the assessment creation process, but it does not offer features that cannot be accomplished directly within the learning management system itself. Additionally, all assessment content created with Respondus 4 can easily be made accessible. For example, when an image or equation is added to a question, Respondus 4 prompts the instructor to enter ALT tags. Finally, Respondus 4 is used exclusively by instructors and is never used by students.
