Tuition Waivers
Staff Waiver
Provides tuition benefits for eligible GovState employees.
Child of Employee Waiver
Provides tuition benefits for eligible dependents of GovState employees.
Interinstitutional Waiver
If you are employed by another Illinois public university and wish to enroll in courses for credit at Governors State University, you may qualify for this waiver.
- Covers up to 6 credit hours per semester
- Contact your institution’s HR Department for eligibility and application instructions
Special Education Teacher Tuition Waiver (SETTW)
Available to Illinois residents (undergraduate or graduate) pursuing initial special education teacher certification.
- Covers tuition and fees
- Recipients must agree to teach in special education in Illinois after graduation
- Administered through the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC)
- Details are available through the Illinois Student Assistance Commission - SETTW Program.
Senior Citizen Tuition Waiver
Designed for senior citizens who meet specific income requirements.
- Covers tuition only for up to 6 credit hours per semester
- Students are responsible for all additional fees
Assistantships
GovState Graduate Assistantship
Graduate assistantships provide eligible students with tuition benefits and/or a stipend in exchange for part-time work in academic or administrative departments. Positions are competitive and offer valuable professional experience.
