All graduate students submitting their own work or first-authored work must indicate Graduate Student Research on their submission. Graduate students may submit their own work (i.e., thesis, dissertation) as Research-in-Progress in the poster, paper, or workshop category. Completed work can be submitted in any category. Graduate students may submit empirical or theoretical work. Systematic reviews and meta-analyses are acceptable, but simple literature reviews or annotated bibliographies are not accepted. All presented work should be grounded in research. Graduate students may serve as the first author for appropriate professional development sessions. Faculty, post-docs, and professional scholars must indicate professional scholars on their submissions if they serve as the first author.

Category: Indicate whether this is a paper or poster presentation

Class: Indicate undergraduate student, graduate student, or professional scholar. This classification is based on the first author’s status.

Duration: If you are presenting a paper, indicate your presentation duration of 50 minutes or a lightning session of 15 minutes.

Title: Your title should be 10 words or fewer in length

400-word Abstract for Review. The name(s) and institution(s) of the author(s) must NOT appear on the abstract since these are reviewed blind. Please use the following format, including the headings:

        1. Problem or Purpose: This section should provide context for the work, including in-text citations.
        2. Procedure: State the rationale, design, controls, sample sizes, characteristics of the sample you collected. If this is a theoretical work, provide adequate rationale for theoretical rather than empirical design. Include as much detail as possible about the work to help reviewers assess merit.
        3. Results: Include any statistical tests that have been employed and the results found as you would include in a paper. Qualitative studies and meta-analyses are accepted. Be sure to provide adequate detail for reviewers.
        4. Conclusions and implications

In-text citations (do not include full references for abstract submission) are necessary to help reviewers evaluate the merit of the proposed presentation.

If your poster is not complete at the time of submission, please indicate this and provide a timeline for study completion. You will be evaluated on the theoretical merit and method design, as well as whether you appear likely to finish the submission in time. As such, it is important to be detailed in your responses.

50-word Abstract for Program. A short abstract not to exceed 50 words is also required. If your work is accepted for presentation, this abstract and all of your contact information will be inserted directly into the program. Proofread carefully.

Please email your submission to CAED@govst.edu
