Respondus LockDown Browser is a custom browser that only allows users to view the testing environment within the Learning Management System. In addition with LockDown Browser, Respondus Monitor uses a webcam and analytics to prevent cheating.

Support for Windows 7 will end on June 28, 2023. Several technologies we rely on are ending their support for Windows 7 on that date, which means LockDown Browser will also cease working on Windows 7 computers at that time. Students using Windows 7 will need to upgrade to Windows 10/11 or find another device that is supported. LockDown Browser can be used with Windows 10+, Mac 10.13+, Chromebook, and iPads running iOS 11+ (the iPad setting must be enabled by the instructor).

If you have technical questions about any of the above, please open a support ticket at https://support.respondus.com/.

In order to allow an external link, Instructors must add to the Advanced Settings section of the Repsondus LockDown Browser test. Instructors must then also include the URL link to the permitted domain in the quiz question. Without such a link, students will not be able to access that domain.
