To receive Summer Financial Aid, you must meet the following criteria:

Deadline to receive scholarship is May 6, 2024.

For summer 2024, Governors State University is offering a $500 scholarship to all undergraduate students who are Pell eligible and register for at least 6 credit hours. This is the perfect opportunity to advance your education and get closer to achieving your academic goals. 

Whether you are a new or continuing student, we encourage you to consider enrolling in at least 6 credit hours this summer and take advantage of the $500 scholarship. Doing so will not only accelerate your path to graduation but also provide you a head start for the fall semester. Here are just a few benefits of taking summer courses:

Please note: In order to be eligible for the scholarship, you must:

  • You must be a Federal Pell recipient for Summer 2024.
  • You must register for at least 6 credit hours by May 6, 2024.
  • You must submit a Summer 2024 GSU Summer Aid Application
  • You must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours.
  • You must be in Good Academic Standing and making Satisfactory Academic Progress.

Undergraduate Assistance

Federal Pell Grant
To receive Pell during the Summer term, you must maintain enrollment in at least one course if you did not exhaust your Pell eligibility in fall/spring, or be enrolled at least half-time status (6 credit hours of eligible coursework) if you did exhaust  your Pell eligibility in fall/spring.

Important Notice: The amount of the Federal Pell Grant funds a student may receive over his or her lifetime is limited by a federal law to be 600 percent. If a student's lifetime eligibility used (LEU) equals or exceeds 600 percent, the student is no longer eligible to receive Pell Grant funding.
