Join us for a month-long celebration as we kick off our brand-new First-Generation Center at Governors State University! Experience an enriching open house, dive into fun at our game night, find peace at our mid-term destress event, and share your inspiring journey at our tabling event. Be part of the First-Gen community, make connections, and celebrate your achievements throughout this empowering month!

• “Come Thru” and join us cookies and hot chocolate at our open house! Here, you’ll get to meet the staff of the First-Generation Center and learn more about how we serve our students.

• Game Night October 11th, 2023 |6pm-8pm| Jaguar Den A2100
• Join the First-Generation Center (FGC), Black Student Union (BSU) & the Association for Latin-American Students (ALAS) and “Connect” with your fellow Jaguars during an evening of competition and fun! Refreshments will be available.
• Coping with Stress During Mid-terms October 19th, 2023 |1pm-3pm| Lakeside Lounge
• Are mid-terms bringing out the “worst behavior” when it comes to coping with stress? Join us as we destress with mindfulness activities and coloring. Also learn new study habits as we tackle mid-term season.
• First-Gen. Forever! October 24th, 2023 |12pm-2pm| Hall of Governors
• Have neither of your parents earned at least a Bachelor’s Degree? If you answered yes, you are a First-Generation Student! We're inviting you to put pen to paper and tell us your reason for pursuing higher education. Come & show your First-Gen. pride on our Wall of Inspiration. Celebrate the strength that comes from being part of an incredible community and make your mark!
