Dr. Curtis J. and Mrs. Gina Crawford Honors College Scholarship Fund

 

Dr. and Mrs. Crawford established this scholarship fund early in 2024 as a part of the foundation of the Crawford Honors College. They are especially interested in making GovState the premier place to go for top-level students who have a desire to achieve aspirational societal and life-changing goals.

Your contributions to the CHC Scholarship Fund will allow student to participate in an elite educational experience for exceptional learners. The college will forge students into leaders with extraordinary critical thinking skills, capable analyst, trained researchers in preparation to become practitioners, and innovators in their chosen profession. 

 


Eligibility:

  • • Students must apply to Governors State by the Early Action Deadline (around November 15) of the academic year before matriculating to Governors State.

  • • Students must complete all elements of a Crawford Honors Scholarship application due on/around December 1 the academic year before matriculating to Governors State.

  • • The scholarship is for new first-time, full-time freshmen matriculating to Governors State.

  • • High School GPA minimum of 3.65 with larger Crawford Honors Leadership Scholarship potential for students with a minimum of 3.80 or higher.

  • • Applicants must be a U.S. citizen.

  • • Winners must be full-time students each fall and spring semester while enrolled at Governors State.

  • • Winners must be a part of the Crawford Honors College if they matriculate to GovState.

  • • Winners must maintain an appropriate retention GPA among other requirements to retain their scholarship (reviewed/renewed annually).

Documents and Experiences Required:

  1. 1. Completion of the Crawford Honors College Scholarship Application which includes two writing sample and two recommendation letters due on/around December 1 the academic year before matriculating to Governors State.

  2. 2. Complete the finalist stage of the Crawford Honors College Scholarship Application process which includes at least two additional interviews with campus stakeholders.

  3. 3. Completion of the FAFSA at the time of submitting your scholarship application.

Award Information:

Largest Crawford Honors Leadership Scholarships (3.80+ GPA for Consideration)

  1. 1. Covers the difference of in-state tuition and fees minus Pell and Illinois MAP Grant for up to 30 credit hours each academic year up to 4 consecutive years while an undergraduate degree seeking student.

  2. 2. Academic year contract for a semi-suite room (double occupancy) for up to 8 academic terms (fall, spring, summer) over 4 consecutive years while an undergraduate degree seeking student.

  3. 3. $500 stipend toward books and supplies at the GovState BookStore each semester to be used in the window of opportunity when FA Link is available for up to 8 academic terms (fall, spring, summer) over 4 consecutive years while an undergraduate degree seeking student.

  4. 4. GovState Gold Meal Plan that will cover up to $1,500 per semester for food and beverage in the GSU Café and C-Store for up to 8 academic terms (fall, spring, summer) over 4 consecutive years while an undergraduate degree seeking student.

  5. 5. One time, $1000 stipend that can be used to help support the cost of either a CHC Study Abroad Experience or a CHC Capstone Experience. Students can apply for additional funding through the CHC to address additional funding needs for these experiences.

Additional Honors College Scholarships (3.65-3.79 GPA for Consideration)

  1. 1. Covers the difference of in-state tuition and fees minus Pell and at least 12 units of Illinois MAP Grant funding for up to 30 credit hours each academic year up to 4 consecutive years while an undergraduate degree seeking student when students.

Note: Award amounts may vary based on funding, availability, and addition, if any, to principal. Amount awarded shall not exceed tuition costs. There are no cash value benefit if any aspects of the award are declined.
