    DDP Orientation - Spring Option 
    Friday, April 12, 2024, from 1:00pm - 4:00pm

    For DDP students who are still pursing an associate degree at their local community college and have not yet attended a past orientation. Participants will receive an orientation to the Dual Degree Program, and will have the opportunity to meet GovState administration and staff, and receive helpful resources in preparation for your transfer.     DDP Graduation Cording Ceremony 
    Tuesday, May 14, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
    Governors State University, Center for Performing Arts
    Dual Degree Program students who have graduated Fall 2023 or Spring/Summer 2024 will be honored at a cording ceremony to acknowledge the completion of their bachelor's degree and celebrate their upcoming commencement.

    Volunteers will be assembling feminine hygiene kits for survivors of domestic violence.   
     
     
    DDP Community Service: Orland Grassland and Water Reserve 
    Saturday, May 11, 2024  9:00 am - 12:00 pm
    9700 W 167th St, Orland Park, IL 60467
    Dual Degree Program will be assisting Orland Grassland and Water Reserve to restore habitat for many important threatened grassland birds. Volunteers will be removing weeds and invasive vegetation, cutting and burning invasive woody plans, collecting and spreading native seed, and collecting trash.  Registration is required by Wednesday, May 9th. 

     

  • DDP Orientation

    During the DDP Orientation, newly enrolled DDP students have the opportunity to obtain additional information on the benefits of the Dual Degree Program. Students and their guests also have the opportunity to meet the GovState President, Provost, and faculty and program advisors. You will also have the chance to tour the campus, hear from other transfer students attending GovState, participate in fun activities with other DDP students, and you will be officially inducted into the Dual Degree Program!   • DDP Graduation Cording Ceremonies

    Students who graduate with their associate degree and transfer to GovState are honored with a cord representing the primary color of their community college alma mater. Students are corded by their respective DDP Transfer Specialist, and receive their commemorative “One Degree Down!” DDP t-shirts.  Ceremony is held each fall semester for new transfers.

    Student are also honored with a final cording ceremony when they complete their bachelor's degree at GovState.  During this ceremony, they receive a black and white cord braided along with the color of their community college, representing the attainment of both the associate and bachelor’s degrees. Ceremony is held each spring during the week of Commencement.

  • DDP Monthly Community Service

    Each month the Dual Degree Program coordinates a community service event with the help of its Student Transition Assistants. This is a perfect opportunity for students to become active members of their community, which has a lasting positive impact on society at large. Community service gives our DDP students the life skills and knowledge, as well as provides a service to those who need it most.

    Scholarship Symposium
    The Dual Degree Program hosts an annual Scholarship Symposium during the fall semester. The half-day professional development conference provides various resources to help you graduate with as little academic debt as possible.  Topics may include:

    The Dual Degree Program Hosts Welcome Back Socials where DDP students come from all DDP partnership campuses. During this event we discuss summer adventures, play board games and enjoy time well spent with each other. We also have raffles and give out DDP SWAG!
