The program accepts a limited number of applicants and generally admits students only for the fall semester. You are encouraged to begin the application process early during the application cycle.

How to Apply for the MHS in Communication Disorders

Eligibility: To be eligible to apply, you must meet the following criteria:

  • By your projected entry into the master’s program, you must have completed a bachelor's degree at a university with regional accreditation
  • At the time of application, you must have at least five completed courses in the discipline on your transcripts to be considered for admission to the graduate program

  • You must meet university criteria and program minimum criteria:

  • A cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale for all undergraduate course work
  • A GPA of 3.0 or higher for all undergraduate course work in the discipline
  • Application: DO NOT use the GovState general online application system. Create an account, free of charge, to begin building your online application on the Communication Sciences and Disorders Centralized Application Service (CSDCAS)https://csdcas.liaisoncas.com/applicant-ux/#/login. From the “Full Programs List” tab, add Governors State University. Submission deadline for this is 2/15/2024.
  • Follow up: The admissions committee will invite selected applicants to an on-campus interview. Offers of admission will be made after the interviews, by April 1. Students must accept the offer by April 15th. Acceptance requires a seat deposit
