Governors State University offers fully online courses through the School for Extended Learning (SXL) that will help you learn in-demand skills for careers in computer programming, software and web development. Due to the pandemic and industry innovation, the workforce in Illinois, and particularly in Will and Cook Counties,  is experiencing technological advancements and operational shifts that require workers with STEM skills. Python, Java, and C++ programmers, as well as front-end and full stack web developers are some of the positions needed most.

Python Developer Career Certificate– 240 to 320 hours
Python is a premier, flexible, and powerful open-source language that is easy to learn, easy to use, and has powerful libraries for data manipulation and analysis. Python is the most popular programming language for applications in Data Analytics, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Business, Finance, and other areas. This training program consists of 3 or 4 college-level courses, depending on prior programming experience. Courses Include: Python Fundamentals Advanced Python Applied Python Introduction to Computer Programming (for those with little to no computer science experience)

Whether you're new to web development or want to build on existing skills, this course will teach you how to create and maintain full-service websites. You will learn all the significant aspects of front-end, back-end, and full-stack development through several milestone exercises and a hands-on project. Throughout the course, you will build a website that hosts learning games. By course completion, your website will allow users to log in, play games, track their progress, see leaderboards, and manage their accounts. This course offers ongoing enrollment
