Academic excellence at Governors State University demands that we meet the most rigorous standards. The university is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission.

But we go further than that. Every one of our programs either has earned or is seeking appropriate professional accreditation, wherever that kind of accreditation exists and is recognized by the profession. Many cross lines between colleges. Programs that do not have a recognized accrediting body are put through an intensive external review by expert evaluators. Our students deserve nothing less than the highest academic standards.

Governors State University is seeking comments from the public about the university in preparation for its periodic evaluation by its regional accrediting agency, the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). The university will host a visit on April 26 – 29, 2020, from a team of peer reviewers representing the HLC. The team will review the institution’s ongoing ability to meet HLC’s Criteria for Accreditation. Governors State University has been accredited by HLC since 1975.
Comments must be in writing and must address substantive matters related to the quality of the institution or its academic programs.

Submit comments to HLC or mail them to the address below. All comments must be received by March 27, 2020.
