Aurelio Mauel ValenteWelcome! I am proud to be associated with a team of caring and dedicated student affairs educators and academic enrichment professionals who are full and integral partners with the faculty of our four academic colleges, and the campus community, in offering programs and services that help ensure you achieve "success by degrees."

The Leadership Institute is the most recent example of an innovative program our dedicated team has developed to enrich your educational experience. The response to the Leadership Institute from the campus community has been overwhelming. In its inaugural year, 45 undergraduates and 20 graduate students participated (selected from 160 applicants), and 15 faculty and staff served as workshop presenters, while 45 more served as leadership mentors.

In addition, over the past year, the division has launched a Student Concerns Program, a Student Coalition for Diversity and Social Justice, expanded Recreation and Club Sports opportunities, established on-campus orientation programs for both new transfer and graduate students, and contributed to the campus-wide efforts to prepare for the introduction of a Lower Division program and opening of University Housing.

Above all else, I value the opportunity to support your efforts or help address any concerns you may have. I encourage you to drop by my office, located in the Student Life Center (A-2130), during my weekly open hours on Tuesdays from 4-5pm, or email me at avalente@govst.edu if you need anything at all. Even if you don’t need anything, stop in and simply visit!

Sincerely,
Aurélio Manuel Valente
Dean of Students and Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs
