Radio Jaguar

Radio Jaguar is an internet radio station that streams music, news, and podcasts serving the GSU and Southland community. This student-run station provides a real-world experience in radio programming, production, and management for students and provide programming for and by the GSU community. Successful completion of MST 4050: Radio Staff Training Workshop will be required for all interested going on air.

Radio Jaguar is looking for all different types of programming: music, news, and podcast-type shows. If you have always dreamed of being on the radio or have a great idea for a radio show – submitting a Radio Jaguar Application for a Radio Show is your first step. In the radio show proposal, you will be filling out basic information about yourself and the type of show you want on Radio Jaguar. The Radio Show Application Is only the first part of getting a show on Radio Jaguar. The next part is taking MST 4050: Radio Staff Training Workshop.

MST 4050: Radio Staff Training Workshop is a requirement for anyone who wants to be part of Radio Jaguar. You do not need to be a Media Studies student. Radio Staff Training Workshop is set up for anyone interested in becoming part of Radio Jaguar and learning the basic radio production skills, rules, and regulations. The Radio Staff Training Workshop will get you prepared to be a Radio Jaguar staff member and access to the Radio Jaguar facilities. This Workshop is set up to give you the basics for being involved with Radio Jaguar. For more in depth training on audio production or developing a podcast, please check out our Media Studies (MST) course offerings. Once the Radio Staff Training Workshop is successfully completed, you are part of the Radio Jaguar staff, and you will begin to work with the Radio Jaguar Program Director and/or other Radio Jaguar Officers about getting your show on the air and getting involved in other areas of Radio Jaguar.

Yes! Radio Jaguar is looking for not only hosts of radio shows but people who want to be involved in creating PSAs and GSU spots; people interested in news writing and reading; people who like promotions and being involved in promotional events; and people who love music and working with musicians. Anyone interested in being a Radio Jaguar staff member needs to first successfully complete MST 4050: Radio Staff Training Workshop.

The Radio Staff Training Workshop is offered through the Media Studies program (MST 4050) and through the School of Extended Learning. Typically, the training is offered on two consecutive Fridays from 9am-5pm and is an on-campus/in-person ONLY Workshop.

To register for MST 4050 Radio Staff Training Workshop through Media Studies, EVERYONE (except MST students who have taken MST 2100 & MST 2101) needs to email Dr. Lara Hrycaj at lhrycaj@govst.edu. To register via the School of Extended Learning, you do not need to email Dr. Hrycaj.
