FACULTY PROFILE

Dr. Stacy Eckert is a mezzo-soprano whose performances have captivated audiences across the United States and Europe. Praised for her “stunning voice” and “vocal and physical fire,” she brings dynamic artistry to both stage and studio. As adjunct faculty in the Theatre and Performance Studies program at Governors State University, Dr. Eckert has taught courses such as Choral Performance and Music of the World, and has contributed musically and theatrically to GSU productions including "A, My Name is Alice", "Cloud 9", and "Kimberly Akimbo", among others.

A professional member of the Chicago Symphony Chorus and Grant Park Chorus, Dr. Eckert also holds certification in stage combat and is a committed arts educator. Beyond the university, she serves as a theatre director, choir director, and liturgical music director, and mentors students as moderator of both the International Thespian Society and the Illinois Music Honor Society at the high school level. She is a long-time member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and served twelve years on the board of its Chicago Chapter. Dr. Eckert received her B.F.A. in Theatre/Voice from the University of Kansas and her M.M. and D.M.A. in Vocal Performance with a minor in Theatre from the University of Illinois - Urbana.
