TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
As an Assistant Professor of Information Technology at Governors State University (GSU), my teaching philosophy centers on making Information Technology accessible, engaging, and relevant. With over 25 years of teaching experience, I view education as a transformative process that equips students with the skills, confidence, and critical thinking needed to succeed in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
My experience at Governors State University, Robert Morris University, and the University of Illinois at Chicago has enabled me to develop a flexible, student-centered approach that adapts to diverse learning styles and backgrounds. I strive to create an interactive classroom environment where students feel encouraged to ask questions, explore ideas, and actively participate in their learning.
Bringing my professional background as a network administrator into the classroom, I bridge the gap between theory and practice by integrating hands-on learning and industry-relevant examples. This approach enables students to understand not only how technology works, but also its impact and importance in solving real-world challenges.
I am deeply committed to supporting my students beyond the classroom by remaining accessible through multiple communication channels.
At GSU, I actively serve on multiple committees and Technology clubs. I view service as a fundamental component of academic life, as it creates meaningful opportunities to contribute to the institution beyond teaching and research. Through committee work, I am able to participate in shared governance, support informed decision-making, and help advance initiatives that enhance the overall quality of education and the academic environment.
