Join us for Fright Night Film Fest, an evening of dark cinema from Chicagoland filmmakers, presented by the Chicago Southland International Film Festival at The Center for Performing Arts at Governors State University.

The program features the Southland premiere of Kaishaku, the second feature film directed by South Suburban native Harry Locke IV and produced by Locke, Alain Azoulay, and Azoulay Pictures. Locke’s more than 100 film credits include the Academy Award-winning Icarus, Sundance breakout Tangerine, and films in the X-Men and Divergent franchises.

Also featured are two projects from YouTube creators Channel Awesome: the first three installments of Space Trash, a sci-fi/action/comedy web series produced and directed by James Jarosz, and Ad/Break, an Adult Swim-inspired horror film produced and directed by Walter Banasiak, a GovState alumnus. Hear directly from the filmmakers during post-screening Q&A sessions.

Come early to meet Doug Walker, Channel Awesome’s Nostalgia Critic! Doors open at 6 p.m., with a meet-and-greet until 6:45 p.m. Walk the red carpet, snap a photo with Doug at no additional charge, and purchase a snack and drink from concessions before the screenings begin at 7 p.m.

Space Trash

A galactic garbage collector picks up a seemingly innocuous piece of space junk but it turns out to be more than he bargained for. In this distant future, human kind has long since abandoned earth after depleting it of its resources and humanity is scattered across the stars. Galactic waste retrieval companies scour the void in search of space debits. However there is far too much space to police leaving it rife with marauders and deadly scavengers. This blue collar hero and his robot companion search the galaxy for humanities discarded waist. It's a tough job but someone has to take out the trash. This sci-fi action comedy will have you laughing, entertained and wanting more.
