Student Handbook
Welcome, as Dean of Students, I am pleased to
work with a team of caring and dedicated student
affairs educators and academic enrichment professionals who are full and
integral partners with the faculty of our four academic colleges, and the campus community,
in offering programs and services that help ensure you achieve "success by
degrees."
A critical element of your success, is having a full understanding of what your
expectations are of Governors State, and what the institutions’ expectations
are of you as a student, whether it be inside or outside the classroom. The
Student Handbook serves as a clearinghouse of policies and procedures that
outline your rights and responsibilities as a valued student member of the GSU
community. In particular, I urge you to familiarize yourself with the student
conduct and student grievance policies.
Above all else, I wish you the very best of health and success for the 2013-14
academic year and encourage you to drop by my office, located in the Student
Life Center (A-2134), during my weekly open hours on Tuesdays from 4-5pm, or
email me at avalente@govst.edu if we
can be of any help to you.
Sincerely,
Aurelio Manuel Valente
