Have you always dreamed of being a teacher or a mental health professional? Have you had to put that dream on hold for family or another career? Now is the time to realize your dream in the College of Education.
Take that next step, grow into a leadership role and join fellow educators, psychologists and counselors. Whatever your goals you’ll find your degree or certificate in the College of Education. When you transition from GSU to the community agency, classroom or administrator’s office, you’ll have a solid balance of theory – emerging big ideas – and practical experience. Small class sizes ensure personal attention, and top notch professors guide learning while mentoring you through hands-on experiences. Our education and psychology students apply what they learn in the classroom, at lab sites and at our on-campus Family Development Center, while working with children from our community. If your career goals focus on mental health, our Division of Psychology and Counseling will prepare you to advance in a school setting or in private practice.
The College of Education offers undergraduate, graduate, cohort and non-degree certificate programs to prepare you with the credentials you need to be a successful education or mental health professional.
The Professional Education Unit is approved by ISBE to offer preparation programs for teachers and other school
