I received my Bachelor of Engineering degree from Shanghai Jiaotong University in 1990. After two years working as a trade specialist, I came to the US to pursue master’s degree in business administration. I received my MBA and DBA degrees from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 1994 and 1998, respectively. Since then, I have held teaching positions at Western Illinois University, Governors State University, Roosevelt University, and California State University Channel Islands.
My research interests include corporate restructuring, organizational downsizing, psychological contract, and cross-cultural management issues. My work has appeared in scholarly journals including Academy of Management Review, Management Research Review, Chinese Management Studies, and Advances in Competitiveness Research. Her article, “Individualism/Collectivism, Selected Personality Traits, and Psychological Contract in Employment: A Comparative Study”, was the recipient of “Highly Commended Award” for the 2009 Emerald Literari Network’s Management Research News journal. I teach strategic management, international business, and organizational behavior at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
I have been actively engaged in many service activities at GSU and my professional community. I served on faculty senate, the graduate council, faculty development steering committee, university honors program council, the global affairs council, as well as the Carnegie classification task force in recent years. I’ve been a member of the Academy of Management, International Association of Chinese Management Research, and Decision Management Institute.
Since 2010, I acted as the faculty champion for GSU’s “Globalizing Business School” effort and the liaison for the GBS partnership between GSU and IU CIBER. I organized and led two successful study abroad trips to China in recent years (one in 2005 and the other in 2012); I also helped organizing a current student trip to Poland in summer 2014. Global business and education is a passion for me and I look forward to bringing more global opportunities to students and faculty at GSU.
