Transferology: Transfer My Credits!

Transferology is a nation-wide network that provides detailed information on how your learning experiences will transfer to higher education institutions. This online transfer planning tool can assist you in determining how your previous coursework will transfer to Governors State University. Here's how to set up a Transferology account, add your completed coursework, and view how your credits will transfer to GSU.

  • How to Create a Transferology Account


    1. Go to
    2. Click the "Create an account" link
    3. Enter requested information
    4. Save your user ID (email address you use to create the account) and password

  • Transferology Tips


    When you enter your courses in your Transferology account, you will be able to view matches for schools participating in Transferology. By following this link, Governors State University will appear at the top of your list. Click on the percentage matchbox to view how the courses have been evaluated.

    Matches: Indicates the specific courses you may be awarded after transferring, providing you have earned a grade of C (2.0) or higher. You may also see courses that are indicated as a match for a specific elective area.

    (Please note, there are situations where a grade of D (1.0) may transfer; view our Transfer Credit Policy for more information.)

    Miss: Indicates courses that will not transfer to GSU.

    Maybe: These are courses that have not been reviewed by GSU yet to determine transferability. View our Transfer Credit Policy and guidelines for information about how credits are evaluated or the criteria used for evaluation.

  • Transfer Requirements


    General Admission Requirements

      • 24 or more semester credit hours of college coursework.
      • 2.0 or higher cumulative GPA.
      • Provide official transcripts from all previously attended colleges or universities.

        Please note, some programs have their own application deadlines and require higher GPAs and/or additional materials for admission. If you have earned less than 24 hours you must apply as a freshman.

      • Illinois Articulation Initiative-IAI


        Governors State University is a participant in the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI), which allows students to follow a general education core curriculum (GECC) that transfers smoothly from over 100 participating schools into all of the undergraduate programs at GSU. This statewide agreement between many Illinois colleges and universities establishes a “package” of lower-division general education coursework accepted at all participating schools and is called the Illinois Articulation Initiative General Education Core Curriculum (IAI GECC).
