    • Master's Degree Requirements


      All applicants must

      • have earned (or will have earned by the term they wish to enroll) a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university,
      • have been in good standing at the last institution attended,
      • have satisfied collegial and/or major criteria, if applicable, for graduate study in a specific major
      • submit official transcripts from all previously attended institutions (demonstrating a fulfillment of the above three items) to the Office of Admissions and Student Recruitment.

      A non-refundable $50 application fee is required at the time of application.

      International applicants are required to have their official transcripts evaluated by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). Visit

      Please note that all documents submitted to Governors State University for admission purposes become the property of the university. Documents will not be released to students nor will they be forwarded to other educational institutions or agencies.

    • Doctoral Degree Requirements


      Governors State University's doctoral programs have varied requirements for admission: check the GSU Catalog here for specific admission requirements, application forms, deadlines, and required materials.

      All applicants must submit a nonrefundable $75 application fee.

    • Additional Graduate Studies Requirements


      GMAT/GRE and other test scores (when applicable): The school code for GMAT/GRE scores is 1263.

      Credentials Evaluation: If you have completed course work outside of the United States, a course-by-course credential evaluation by a NACES member will be required. Visit to search for an evaluation service provider.

    • Admission Decision


      Evaluation and Processing
      All application materials must be in by the deadline or your application will not be reviewed. Please check with your academic program for a timeline of the admission process. You will be notified by US Mail once a decision has been made.

      Letter of Admission Decision
      After your application has been processed, you will receive a letter from the Office of Admissions with your admission decision.
