I am new to Governors State University. I work in the Department of Social Work as a University Lecturer and assist with coordination of the Field Instruction program. I was a field liaison at Jane Addams College of Social Work for four years and have worked as a social worker in schools, community mental health organizations and residential facilities for over 15 years, specializing in work with children, adolescents and their families.
Here at GSU, I enjoy seeing my students broaden their perspectives and see the world in new and exciting ways. I also enjoy learning from them. Many times they help me look at things in ways that I hadn't previously considered.
My most valuable community service experience has been working with a young women's Rites of Passage group for girls and teens, ages 8 to 18.
For outside interests, I enjoy quiet activities: reading, writing (creative non-fiction) and baking.
