About: Kerri O’Shea

What was your undergraduate major and/or graduate program in?

I have earned a B.A. in Visual Arts and Graphic Design from the University of St. Francis and a M.A. in School Guidance and Counseling with an IL Educator License from Lewis University.

How long have you been with GSU?

I became an official Jaguar July 22, 2019.

What is one piece of advice you have for students?

Students encounter a variety of challenges throughout their academic journey. My passion with advising is the opportunity to provide direction and motivation while creating guided pathways for students to succeed.  I strongly encourage students to stay connected and communicate on a regular basis with their academic advisor. Scheduling advising sessions in person or via phone each semester is very important! These sessions allow for me to share resources and ensure students are on track with achieving their academic goals.

What is your favorite book/movie/TV show?

My favorite book is The Great Gatsby. I would have to say my favorite movie is a toss-up between Meet Joe Black and The Natural. I am always up for any TV series that is binge worthy on Netflix.

What is your favorite thing about GSU?

Aside from having the privilege of working with amazing students and colleagues, my favorite thing about GSU is the rich history of artistic culture and wide range of diversity throughout our campus.
