Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology - The Chicago School of Professional Psychology
Brittany Yacko received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Lewis University, where she worked full-time as a tutor and provided academic aid to college students of diverse backgrounds, personalities, and majors. She earned her Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and is awaiting her LPC licensure. Last year, Brittany had the opportunity to intern at the Counseling & Wellness Center at Governors State University, where she offered both individual and group counseling and promoted mental health awareness outreach initiatives.
This year, she is excited to return to GSU as the Counselor in Residence (CIR) in Prairie Place. As the CIR, Brittany will collaborate with the Counseling & Wellness Center and University Housing to support the academic and personal growth of students through the provision of on-site consultation, mental health support services, and psychoeducational outreach programming. She will also be available for emergency intervention and crisis care during office hours, if necessary. Brittany’s areas of specialization and interest include depression, anxiety, stress, grief and loss, bullying and peer conflict, self-esteem concerns, and relational concerns.
When she is not enjoying a good Netflix binge, Brittany can be found walking nature trails with her family and friends or spending quality time with her cat, Oliver. She also enjoys playing video games, reading celebrity memoirs, and participating in cupcake crawls. Brittany is a foodie so she loves visiting the cupcake bakeries and sampling the best sweet treats in Chicago!
