Counselor-In-Residence (CIR) program
The mental health Counselor-In-Residence (CIR) program at Governors State University is a new initiative between the Counseling & Wellness Center and University Housing to extend mental health consultation
services as a cost-effective and collaborative strategy within the Division of
Student Affairs and Enrollment Management.
The CIR staff lives and works on campus, and provides on-site counseling including: triage/walk-in services, emergency interventions and crisis care, group counseling, psychoeducational
outreach programming, onboarding training for housing staff, and offers consultation and support to RHD, ARHDs, and RA staff.
