In commemoration of GSU’s 50th Anniversary, Orbert Davis’ Chicago Jazz Philharmonic brings its full 60-member symphonic jazz orchestra to the Center for Performing Arts with a signature production featuring jazz legends alongside young "lion" musicians.

This cross-generational performance will feature Chicago Jazz Philharmonic's signature Third Stream sound. Jazz legends include trumpeter Bobby Lewis and GSU alum saxophonist Mwata Bowden. Emerging talents include trumpeter Randy Price, GSU alum and saxophonist Justin Smith (BA '18), guitarist Julian Richey, and vibraphonist Thaddeus Tukes, along with other surprises and guest artists.

Other highlights include legendary, award-winning vocalists Bobbi Wilsyn and Margaret Murphy-Webb of Chicago's Eleven "Jazzy" Divas.

This program is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council Agency.
