he College of Health Professions is one of four academic colleges at Governors State University. It houses seven health and human services professions that offer a total of four undergraduate and seven graduate programs. The College's programs and their degree offerings are: Addictions Studies (MHS), Communication Disorders (BHS, MHS), Health Administration (BHA, MHA), Nursing (BS, MS), Occupational Therapy (MOT), Physical Therapy (MPT), and Social Work (BSW, MSW).
In addition to the traditional professional programs, Addictions Studies also contains a training, development, and evaluation arm in the form of its Center for Advanced Training, Education, and Evaluation in Addictions and Behavioral Health (CATEE). CATEE is funded exclusively by contracts and grants. CATEE also serves as the fiscal agent and physical space location for the Illinois affiliate of One Church One
Family, a private not-for-profit [501(c) (3)] national program founded by Father George Clements.
The programs of the College of Health Professions currently serve the state of Illinois, principally the Chicagoland area and those individuals traditionally underserved in higher education. The programs are student-focused with strong commitments to excellence in teaching, scholarly development, practical application, and community service. All of the College's programs are guided by the respective standards of their appropriate accreditation bodies.
The vision of the College is to be a leader in health and human services professions education. The College will continue to engender a reputation for innovation locally, regionally, and nationally. CHP will be at the forefront of quality, flexible, innovative, and affordable education; and a trendsetter for the continuing education needs of health care and human service professionals. Specifically, programs within the College will be sought by practitioners for their unique expertise in advancing practice knowledge and skills within their respective professions.
Our mission is to provide accessible and quality health and human services professions education; foster a commitment to lifelong learning, scholarship, professional ethics, and appreciation of diversity; and infuse its programs into community partnerships for the economic development of the region.
