The College of Arts and Sciences, in cooperation with the College of Education, offers students four programs that include the option of earning teacher certification in secondary education. We are proud to claim state and national accreditation.

New Student Orientation/Advising Sessions:

All new students to the Secondary Education program at GSU must attend an orientation/advising session before enrolling in courses. The next session will be Thursday, August 28, at 3:00 PM in the E-Lounge (E-wing, across from English Office). Please confirm your attendance at r-thompson@govst.edu. You may check back after September 5, 2009 for additional Fall term dates.

The MAPP exam (Measure of Academic Proficiency and Progress) is now in place.

Testing dates for the Fall, 2008 and Winter, 2009 terms:

Fall 2008 Trimester: 

  • Friday, September 19, 2008, 9am - Noon in the Hall of Honors (Check-in begins 8:30am)

  • Saturday, October 11, 2008, 9am - Noon in room F1603 (Check-in begins 8:30am) 

Winter 2009 Trimester: 

  • Friday, January 23, 2009, 9am - Noon in the Hall of Honors (Check-in begins 8:30am)

  • Saturday, February 7, 2009, 9am - Noon in the Hall of Honors (Check-in begins 8:30am)
