Statement of Principles and Values
Governors State University's Public Safety and Police Services is staffed by people of integrity who are committed to providing quality service to the university community in an honest, fair, professional and courteous manner. A partnership will be pursued based on mutual trust, confidence, commitment and communication to maintain and improve the quality of life and promote safety and welfare on our campus.
Employees of Public Safety and Police Services pledge collectively and individually to constantly grow, develop and engage in reassessment to meet current and future challenges.
Illinois Compiled Statutes at 110 ILCS 670/15-45 (11)
"Members of such police departments shall be conservators of the peace and as such have all powers possessed by policemen in cities and sheriffs in counties including the power to make arrests on view or warrants of violation of state statutes and city or county ordinances."
