An internship gives you an opportunity to gain practical experience and/or earn credit hours toward your degree. An internship allows you access to the professional work world before you've completed your academic studies. In selected disciplines, you can earn credit hours by working in a field related to your academic program.
On-the-job experiences and the effective use of skills learned in class instruction are elements of a successful internship.
- are cooperative efforts between organizations and the university;
- enrich and enhance students' academic experience; and
- are offered by employers in conjunction with the Office of Career Services and supervised by employers.
The Office of Career Services will assist you in your search for an internship opportunity, review your resume, and prepare you for the interview. While we do not guarantee that companies mentioned in these brochures will hire you, this information would be helpful in your search.
Check with your college and/or professors to learn about additional internship opportunities. Also, be sure to use the internship resources located within the Experience Job and Internship database, and the VAULT Career Library. Please note: enter your GSU email address to receive a password from VAULT, which is also located within the Experience website.
Keep in mind that when going for an interview, you should dress professionally and appropriately and bring more than one copy of your resume.
