  • Indoor Mini Biathlon
    April 7 to 21 (Compete at your convenience!)
    3 mile bike ride/2 mile run
    Prizes awarded for best category time and best combined time.  All participants receive a gift.
    Competition in 18-50 years of age and 50+ years of age divisions

    Fee $5 (Proceeds benefit the Illinois Special Olympics)

  • Relay For Life Luminarias & Survivors Event
    Thursday, April 11; Noon to 2 p.m.; Hall of Governors
    Join the GSU Cancer Crusaders in honoring those affected by cancer.
    Make a donation by decorating a Luminaria bag to remember those who have lost their lives to cancer, as well as those who have survived.  Every donated bag will help us light up the Hall of Governors in tribute.
    Information on participating in the Relay For Life will also be available.

  • Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.)
    Wednesdays, April 3, 10, 17, 24, May 1; 3 to 4:30 p.m. and 6 to 7:30 p.m.; Recreation and Fitness Center
    Be prepared!  The R.A.D. course includes lecture, discussion, and hands-on self-defense techniques suitable for women of all abilities.

Holistic Health Symposium

Attention:  The Holistic Health Symposium is being postponed until further notice.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

About GSU's annual Holistic Health Symposium:

  • Learn about holistic health at our daylong conference!!  The conference includes presentations, demonstrations, and exhibits of holistic and healthful products and services.
  • Vendors and exhibitors will be on campus with information, products, and services related to holistic health.
  • This event is free and sponsored by Student Life and the GSU Wellness Club.

Indoor Biathlon

  • The indoor biathlon is designed to include beginners and advanced athletes alike.
  • Treadmill run is two miles and recumbent bike ride is three miles.
  • Prizes are awarded for best event times and overall time in senior and non-senior categories.
  • All proceeds will go to the Special Olympics.

Relay For Life-American Cancer Society-Colleges Against Cancer

Fight Back Against Cancer in 2013 

  • Governors State University is teaming up with the American Cancer Society to Fight Back in 2013.  We are joining the community Relay For Life of Chicago Heights on May 17-18, 2013 at Marian Catholic High School.

     
  • Join the GSU Cancer Crusaders on Thursday, April 11th from 12 to 2 p.m. in honoring those affected by cancer.  Make a donation by decorating a Luminaria bag to remember those who have lost their lives to cancer, as well as those who have survived.  Every donated bag will help us light up the Hall of Governors in tribute.  Information on participating in the Relay For Life will also be available.  This event is sponsored by Student Life and is open to everyone.
