NMSP - 2011 Docent Orientation - continued
As a docent, you will guide visitors through the nationally acclaimed sculpture park, home to 27 masterworks by some of the world’s great contemporary artists. Docents lead weekend tours of the park, host programs and receptions, and act as park ambassadors, according to Geoffrey Bates, NMSP curator and director.
"We’re looking for people who are interested in art. But they don’t have to experts in contemporary art – they will learn about sculpture and our collection during the orientation sessions." Bates said people of all ages are eligible to participate in the docent program.
Docents are the first to hear park news of exhibitions and acquisitions and often have the opportunity to meet the artists who have created the work in the park.
