Contact People

  • Librarians - Liaison librarians are the primary contact for faculty. Librarians are subject area specialists for academic programs and assist with collection development, instruction, resources, coursework, and research.

Instruction Services

Online Resources

  • Library Homepage - The gateway to the online catalog, indexes, databases, subject area resources, library information and services.
  • Find a Book @ GSU - This box on the homepage is a basic search in the VuFind online catalog. Use the catalog to find books, videos, and library materials at GSU, and books at other I-Share libraries.
  • Find a Journal by Title or Full-Text Journals List - These access points let you search for specific journals or browse journal titles we have in our databases or print collection.
  • Databases A-Z - An alphabetical list of online indexes and full-text databases. From off campus, use your GSU username and password to login to databases.
  • LibGuides - The starting point to select the right databases for articles and documents related to academic disciplines and subjects. These research guides prepared by librarians also provide subject-area web resources and can be developed for specific courses.
  • Using Persistent Database Links in Blackboard - A persistent link, also known as a durable, stable, or permanent link, is a URL that connects directly to a specific full-text article in a library database. Persistent links are copyright compliant because the URL contains the library proxy server information. With a persistent link the article is retrieved by simply clicking the link, and logging in with one’s GSU username and password. Questions: contact ldimaggio@govst.edu or lgeller@govst.edu.

On Campus Services and Information

  • Reference Desk Service - Librarians and Senior Library Specialists are available at the Reference Desk to assist you whenever the library is open. For in-depth research consultations, contact your program's subject specialist librarian. Contact the Reference Desk at Ext. 4111.
  • Library Tours and Collections - Individual or group tours of the library are available upon request. Contact: pblobaum@govst.edu Our collections include academic and professional materials that support and supplement GSU programs. Library materials and resources include a variety of formats: print, video, media, and online. Special collections include Government Documents and a K-12 Education Curriculum Center.
  • Reserves - Faculty may request GSU library books and other materials which are in high demand be placed on reserves at the Circulation Desk. Instructors can also place personal copies of material on reserves. Fill out reserve forms at the Circulation Desk. Contact: cholman2@govst.edu.
  • Checking Out Materials - Bring your current GSU ID card to check out materials at the Circulation Desk. Please visit the Library Policies page for information about placing items on hold and loan periods. Questions: contact the Circulation Department at Ext. 4112.
  • Graduate Assistant Check Out - Graduate assistants may check out materials for faculty with a signed permission form. Forms are obtained at the Circulation Desk.
  • Test Collection - Our collection of standardized tests is a closed collection limited to use by qualified persons. Please review the Test Collection Policy if your students will be using this collection.

Online Services

  • Ask a Librarian (Reference Email) - Request answers to reference questions via email.
  • Create an I-Share Libraries Account - Create an online account to have books from I-Share libraries sent to our Circulation Desk. Use the 14-digit barcode number on your GSU ID card as the “Borrower ID”. You can renew GSU and I-Share books in your account. You can also borrow books in person at I-Share Libraries with your valid GSU ID card.
  • Request a Book via Interlibrary Loan - This online form is to request books not found at I-Share libraries. Interlibrary loan forms are also available at the Reference Desk.
  • Request a Journal Article via Interlibrary Loan - This online form is to request articles not found in the library’s full-text databases. Use the Find a Journal by Title search box on the library homepage to determine if the article is available full-text in our databases. Interlibrary loan forms are also available at the Reference Desk.
  • Request Materials from Archives - Complete this form to request materials from the GSU Archives. All archival materials must be used in the Library.
  • Book Recommendation Form - Recommend books, videos, or CD-ROMS to be added to the library collections. Recommendations will be sent to the librarian assigned to your program for review and consideration. Alternately, faculty may contact their liaison librarian directly with requests for adding new library materials.
  • Journal Recommendation Form - Recommend journal titles to be added to the library collection. Recommendations will be sent to the library faculty member assigned to your program for review and consideration.
  • Web Site/URL Recommendation Form - Recommend web sites to be added to LibGuides. Recommendations will be sent to the librarian assigned to your program for review and consideration.

  • GSU Faculty and Staff Resources Page - A directory of links to university departments, resources, services, and information for GSU faculty.
  • GSUVault - The library maintains this open access archival repository for the university. It contains departmental documents, promotional materials, historical materials, and other publications for faculty, staff, and students. Contact swegley@govst.edu if you have materials you would like uploaded to the GSUVault.
