The library currently receives the following newspapers:

• Asian Wall Street Weekly
  • The library keeps the current 12 months only. The paper is published on Monday.
• Barron's National Business and Financial Weekly
  • Current issues are received on paper. The library has issues back to 1960 on microfilm. This paper is published on Monday.
• Chicago Crusader
  • The library keeps the current 12 months only. The paper is published on Saturday.
• Chicago Defender
  • The library keeps the current 12 months only. The paper is published Monday through Saturday. The library has 1921-1974 on microfilm.
• Chicago Sun-Times
  • The library keeps the current 3 months only. The paper is published Monday through Sunday
• Chicago Tribune
  • Current issues are received on paper. The library has issues back to April 23, 1849 on microfilm. The paper is published Monday through Sunday.

  • Current issues are received on paper. The library has issues back to November 25, 1908 on microfilm. The paper is published Monday through Friday.
• Commerce Business Daily
  • The library keeps the current 3 months only. The paper is published Monday through Friday.
• Crain's Chicago Business
  • Current issues are received on paper. The library has issues back to 1980 on microfilm. The paper is published once a month.
• Investors Business Daily
  • The library keeps the current 3 months only. The paper is published Monday through Friday.
• Muslim Journal
  • The library keeps the current 6 months only. The paper is published on Friday.
• New York Times
  • Current issues are received on paper. The library has issues back to September 1851 on microfilm. The paper is published Monday through Sunday.
• Reader : Chicago's free weekly
  • The library keeps the current 3 months only. The paper is published on Friday
• Star (Crete/University Park edition)
  • The library keeps the current 6 months only. The paper is published on Thursday and Sunday.
• State Journal-Register
  • The library keeps the current 3 months only. The paper is published Monday through Sunday.
• Wall Street Journal
  • Current issues are received on paper. The library has issues back to 1958 on microfilm. The paper is published Monday through Friday, except on legal holidays.

The most recent editions of these papers are located on the newspaper carousel in the Documents/Serials area. Earlier editions are located at the end of the Index Area shelving in the Documents/Serials area. Newspapers earlier than those on the shelving are located in the Serials Department in the Technical Services area. Please ask for assistance in retrieving those issues.

Several of these newspapers have indexes to them. These indexes can be found alphabetically in the Index Aisle. We also subscribe to Newspaper Abstracts (1985 - current) which contains an index to several national newspapers. Of the newspapers indexed on Newspaper Abstracts, we subscribe to : Chicago Tribune, Christian Science Monitor, New York Times, and Wall Street Journal.

Several other, older versions of newspapers are held on microfilm in the microform reader/printer area of the Documents/Serials area. Some of these titles may currently be received, please check a copy of the Periodical Holdings' list found at the Reference Desk and at the Documents/Serials Information Desk. The titles include:
