Dear University Community,
Thank you for visiting the Governors State University HLC 2009 website which has been created to provide university participation and involvement in the reaccreditation process for the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
GSU’s site visit is scheduled for November 16-18, 2009 and as you will see at the links on the website, there has been a great deal of activity since early 2008
related to the self-study process.
The Self-Study document is organized according to the HLC’s own criteria. These criteria include:
• Criterion One: Mission and Integrity
• Criterion Two: Preparing for the Future
• Criterion Three: Student Learning and Effective Teaching
• Criterion Four: Acquisition, Discovery, and Application of Knowledge
• Criterion Five: Engagement and Service
As the university community did with the draft self-study chapters, please review and comment upon this important narrative. Please let us know if these chapters reflect our institutional strengths as well as our shared challenges as we prepare together for the future. After all, this is the story of GSU, particularly between the years of 2000 and 2009.
