Re: Appointment of the Faculty Development Steering Committee
This memorandum announces the creation of a GSU Faculty Development Steering Committee and the appointment of faculty members that will serve on the Steering Committee.
Governors State University’s mission to offer an exceptional educational experience for our students relies upon a great faculty. Strategy 2015: Inspire Hope, Realize Dreams, Strengthen Community outlines six institutional goals, one of which (Goal #2) is focused on high quality faculty. Well-prepared, engaged faculty and staff are our most important and valued asset. A knowledgeable, motivated, creative, and dedicated faculty gives us a competitive advantage. With the implementation of our new strategic plan, now is the time to begin considering university-wide faculty development efforts. This newly formed Faculty Development Steering Committee will help to define the agenda for faculty development for the remainder of the academic year and for long term. Its focus will be on clearly identifying faculty needs and providing recommendations to advance quality faculty development opportunities at GSU.
The first meeting of this group will be called by Vice Provost John Stoll with a team from the Division of Digital Learning & Media Design acting as support for the Faculty Development Steering Committee.
