Kankakee Community College was organized in October 1966 and serves as an educational, vocational, and recreational center for residents of Community College District 520, a area encompassing all or part of Kankakee, Iroquois, Ford, Grundy, Livingston, and Will counties and serving a population in excess of 130,000. Kankakee Community College is accredited by The Higher Learning commission and is a member of the North Central Association. KCC is officially recognized by the Illinois Community College Board.
