Candidate Study Plans

About your Candidate Study Plan

Your Candidate Study Plan will be developed with an academic advisor before the end of your first trimester of enrollment.  Your advisor will explain your requirements and develop a plan that will lead to program completion.  The plan will detail the current requirements for your program in effect at the time of your admission as a candidate.  It will specify the amount of transfer credit applied toward the requirements; the total credit-hour requirement for the program; required and elective courses; and the maximum number of credit-hours and/or courses that can be taken off campus and applied toward your studies.

All candidates are encouraged to contact Mr. John Powers, the Reading program academic advisor, for additional information.

The study plan must be reviewed and updated whenever a candidate:

  • applies for acceptance of transfer credit earned from another institution after enrollment at Governors State University;
  • wishes to substitute course work specified on the plan;
  • changes majors; or
  • is readmitted after stopping out of the program for a time.

Candidates choosing to take courses not specified in their study plan may find that such credit may not apply toward his/her requirements.
