PEER MENTOR PROGRAM - Your built-in support system
Thinking about applying to the program? Have questions such as: what are the classes like? Can I work and still go to school? Get answers from current GSU Counseling students. E-mail your questions to: firstname.lastname@example.org (type "Mentor" in the subject line). Once admitted to the program you can be paired up with a senior classmate who can show you the ropes.

The next deadline to apply to the program is February 15, 2014 for the Fall 2014 semester (starts August 2014). If you want to sign up as a Non-Degree Seeking student for the spring semester and take some prerequisites, you can do that.
Two things to note:
- Financial aid will not cover courses taken as a non-degree seeking student.
- Taking prerequisites does not guarantee admission into the program.
All sequences can take anywhere from two to four years to complete, with an average of about three years. All classes are held on campus in the evenings (4:30–7:20 p.m. and 7:30–10:20 p.m.). You can go full- or part-time through the program. Currently graduate tuition is $272/credit hour. Each class is three credit hours (plus fees).
Post Master’s School Counselor Certification
This certificate is designed for those who already possess a master's degree in counseling or psychology and now wish to pursue the Educator License - School Counselor endorsement. This set of a minimum of 24 hours meets the ISBE requirements for the Educator License.
This program is a minimum of four semesters, and may be longer depending on the prerequisites you bring in. A transcript evaluation can be done prior to applying into the program to see how many hours the program would be for you (please call me).
All classes are held on campus in the evenings (from 4:30–7:20 p.m. and from 7:30–10:20 p.m.). You can go full- or part-time through the program. Currently, graduate tuition is $272/credit hour. Each class is three credit hours (plus fees).

- SCHOOL COUNSELING STUDENTS: Access help in finding and securing practicum and internship sites by going to: e-Learning. Use scfguest as both your ID and password. Locate and open the "Help from the Clinical Coordinator" folder. DO NOT go to school districts on your own without accessing this information first.
NCE (National Counselor Exam)

The deadline to apply for Fall 2013 graduation (courses complete by December) is Friday, September 6, 2013 and the Graduation application form must be submitted to the Registrar's Office by one of the following methods:
- Dropped off in-person (C1300)
- By mail (must be post marked by September 6, 2013).
After applying, students will be charged a $50 non-refundable graduation processing fee, which must be paid to the Cashier's office by October 14, 2013.

- Complete the top portion of the form (you can type write in the form)
- Print off a copy of the form
- Sign and date the form
- Submit the completed form to the Registrar's Office, in person or by mail.
