The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Program (CACREP) recently announced that Governors State University's Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervison Program has met all expectations for full accreditation! Congratulations to all for a job well done!

The doctoral program in Counselor Education and Supervision is designed for students who hold a masters degree from a CACREP-accredited counseling program, a degree in counseling, or a degree in a related field. Students are expected to attain advanced level competence in counseling, supervision, teaching, research, and advocacy and leadership. Teaching, supervision, practicum, and internship experiences are required. The doctoral program requires passing of the doctoral written and oral comprehensive examinations, and completion of a capstone project. The program is designed to be completed in 8 semesters, taking six hours per semester. Classes will be held on Tuesdays for the entire cohort period and will be taught during the day and/or evening.
